Another set of graves we hope won’t have to be moved to the « Swedish » cemetery of Public. Those people were all Anglicans and of Saban descent.
D’autres tombes qui, nous l’espérons, n’auront pas a être déplacées vers le cimetière de Public. Ces personnes étaient tous Anglicans et d’origine de Saba.
William Donald LEVEROCK
William Donald LEVEROCK was either born on Saba or Saint-Barth, son of Moses LEVEROCK and Rebecca BEAKS. He was a mariner living part on both islands.
William Donald LEVEROCK est né à Saba ou Saint-Barthelemy, fils de Moses LEVEROCK et de Rebecca BEAKS. Il était marin et semble avoir vécu sur les deux iles.
He passed away on the 28th of February 1886, aged 31 years old and his funerals were on the 1st of March at the Anglican Church in Gustavia.
Il est décédé le 28 février 1886 âgé de 31 ans, et ses funérailles sont célébrées à l’église Anglicane de Gustavia le 1er Mars.
Moses Leverock HASSELL
It is not known where Moses Leverock HASSELL was born, but for sure, he was also of Saban descent. He was born around 1819, son of Henry Johnson HASSELL and was a custom officer in Gustavia for the Swedish government. He died on the 21st of march 1873 and was but burried the same day with Anglican rites.
On ne sait pas où est né Moses Leverock HASSELL, mais, surement était-il originaire de Saba. Il est né vers 1819, fils de Henry Johnson HASSELL et il était douanier à Gustavia pour le gouvernement Suédois. Il est décédé le 21 mars 1873, ses funérailles ont lieu à l’église Anglicane de Gustavia le même jour.
Elizabeth Nina DOWLING and Thomas Charles BARNES
Elizabeth Nina DOWLING was born in Saba (village of Saint-John) on the 11th of September 1895 of Peter John Hassell DOWLING and Joanna Lovelace HASSSELL (both from the same village and related).
Her Husband was Captain Thomas Charles « TC » BARNES born in Saba (village of Saint-John) on the 02d of July 1894 of Captain Richard Thomas « Buddy » BARNES and Mary-Ann EVERY (from the village of Saint-John as well).
They were maried in Saint-Kitts on the 23rd of January 1915.
Elizabeth Nina was buried on the 27th of July 1962 and Captain BARNES on the 15th of April 1975. They both were Anglicans.
Next to them is Elizabeth DOWLING, (aunt of Johanna Lovelace HASSELL), born in Saba on the 20th of November 1845. She passed away in Saint-Barth on the 21st of December 1925 and was buried the next day. She also was Anglican.
Their graves are part of the DINZEY’s square.
